The KUS has an extensive network of volunteers that put together events, campaigns and resources to serve the undergraduate Kinesiology community. Under the guidance of each KUS Executive is a team of dedicated volunteer coordinators that organize all things KUS.

As Co-Directors of the KUS BIPOC Committee, we work to oversee a committee of dedicated students seeking to create an inclusive environment for Black, Indigenous, and Students of Color here in the KUS. We strive to create events dedicated to the needs of our Black communities, Indigenous communities, and communities of colour, and maintain an open dialogue that allows us to listen to and uphold the greater interests of these students. Some of our events include the BIPOC Community Market, our Intercultural Physical Activity Series, and a BIPOC Professional Development Panel. As a co-coordinators, our role involves creating detailed timelines and structures for all events and initiatives planned for the upcoming year. This includes leading the planning process, organizing logistics, and delegating tasks to ensure team cohesion. We will oversee sustainability initiatives and collaborate with others to gather student feedback. Responsibilities also include attending multi-facility and AMS sustainability meetings, liaising with the KUS President to restructure the committee, and coordinating with the School of Kin for sustainability initiatives.

Our role as Grad Coordinators are to ensure that all graduating KIN students are prepared for the end of their undergraduate degree at UBC by providing resources and events to set them up for success. In addition to this, we plan many social events for grads to bond and continue forming lasting KINnections despite being in their last year of university.

KIN Games is one of the largest student-run undergraduate conferences in Canada and consist of 30+ schools across all of Canada. We compete in 4 main pillars; dance, spirit, athletics and academics. Throughout the year, we bond and train and become a tight-knit group of 16. As a team, we will travel to Mount Royal University in late March of 2025, and we will fundraise throughout the year to reduce these costs. There will also be retreats throughout the year for all of us to bond and become best friends! Truly, an unforgettable undergraduate experience.

The KIN Camp Coordinators are some of the beautiful faces who curate a memorable experience for all incoming students through the iconic KIN Camp. They meticulously plan and organize an entire weekend filled with fun, engaging, and meaningful activities that embody the spirit of Kinesiology at UBC. Their dedication and passion shine through as they lead the organization of the experience, ensuring that every detail is in place for an unforgettable experience.

As Volunteer Training Coordinators, we are responsible for providing an introduction to KUS volunteers and ensuring that our volunteers feel prepared for their roles for the year. Additionally, we ensure that they feel supported and appreciated through the duration of their time being a volunteer as the KUS truly cannot do all it does without the help of its amazing volunteers. We plan volunteer training as well as multiple appreciation events/socials throughout the year!

KUS Pride is the first and only student-run committee dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment for 2SLGBTQIA+ students in the UBC School of Kinesiology. Our members are not only devoted to providing events tailored to the unique needs of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals but are determined to cultivate safe spaces that encourage open dialogue and discussions about their diverse experiences. Led by the KUS Pride Committee Director and Team Coordinators, we plan a variety of programs for 2SLGBTQIA+ students and allies including professional panels, safer-sex info booths, and queer art celebrations.

As AVP Communications, my role involves supporting the VP Communications in managing the various committees within our portfolio. This includes editing graphics for the KUS Instagram account, recording and producing podcast sessions, and contributing to content creation and merch production. Additionally, I ensure that all KUS branding remains current and consistent with ongoing events and projects. I also play a role in coordinating communication strategies and maintaining effective outreach across all our media platforms.

Primarily, it is my responsibility to update the website with new initiatives, events, and news, ensuring that all information is accurate and relevant. Beyond this, I also work to improve the overall layout and design of the website. My role as AVP Academic is to work closely with the VP Academic to facilitate academic committee meetings and events throughout the year. I also provide additional support to coordinators and committee members for problem-solving, scheduling, etc. The main focus for this year is to make academics more fun and accessible for undergraduate kinesiology students, such as providing instructions and support to get connected with the Centre for Accessibility.

As PD Coordinators, our main focus is organizing and executing a range of career panels and professional development events throughout the academic year. Our primary goal is to provide students with diverse opportunities to explore various career paths, extending beyond the traditional scope of Kinesiology. We achieve this by collaborating with professionals across different fields to deliver informative and engaging workshops and panels. This year, our committee is committed to offering high-quality, accessible professional development workshops and panels, including Medicine Panel, Painting Night: Pathways to Profession, Physiotherapy Panel, KUS Research Night, and many, many more!

As KAS co-coords, we are in charge of hiring committee members, coordinating and brainstorming academic events, as well as aiming to create an overall inclusive and welcoming environment. In terms of actual events that KAS holds, we try to have fun while also incorporating the academic side of things, whether that be through study sessions, trivia, study resources and many more! Looking at this year, we are also hoping to expand our online resources, such as blogs that might help with the learning curve of applications like Notion or Anki. In the past, KAS has helped contribute to study resources for finals as well as various Final Exam Practice Test Questions for various KIN courses.

As KiWe Coordinators we aim to elaborate events which cultivate an environment for students to feel included, engaged and at comfort. We want to provide Kinesiology students with opportunities to connect with their peers while also promoting the importance of student mental wellness. Wellness Wednesday posts on instagram will promote mental wellness by sharing engaging videos or photos to students about important mental health topics that they may not be aware of. In addition to Wellness Wednesday, we have many interactive events planned out for this school year! Some of these events include Puppy/Bunny Yoga, Cookin’ with KiWe, Shake it Off with KiWe and Pancake Breakfasts!

As AVP External, I collaborate closely with the VP External to plan, organize, and coordinate various committees, including KINdustry, Sponsorship, and NetworKIN. Together, we lead efforts to strengthen relationships with campus partners, alumni, and industry professionals. Our goal is to create opportunities that foster networking, professional growth, and community engagement. Through these committees, we work to connect students with valuable resources and experiences that enhance their academic and career development during their time at UBC.

The KINdustry committee focuses on enhancing the professional and academic lives of students. We provide programming, develop resources and run events to bridge the gap between UBC students and industry professionals.

The NetworKIN Coordinator role is responsible for sourcing opportunities, planning and hosting events to connect KIN students with faculty, other undergraduate societies, and creating a supportive network within the campus community. Additionally, the committee oversees the Webkins program, which includes organizing asynchronous activities, pairing UBC KIN students with other KIN students based on surveys, and maintaining communication with other participating schools across Canada.

Our role as Sponsorship Coordinators is to create partnerships with local businesses to bring KIN students discounts and promotions, as well as event sponsors. With the KINsider card, students and faculty can support our community and save money with each purchase at a participating business.

As coordinators of the KINdergarten Finance Committee, we work to empower students by enhancing their personal and professional growth. Our team strives to plan, organize, and execute monthly workshops centered around finance-related themes. These sessions, led by esteemed guest speakers such as professors and teacher assistants, cover practical topics including budgeting, tax preparation, and proficiency in Microsoft tools. We are responsible for liaising with financial experts who will conduct these workshops, ensuring a streamlined and efficient process. Our mission is to equip students with crucial skills for the workforce, fostering independence and self-reliance.

As the KUS KINtramural Coordinators, we are responsible for organizing drop-in style intramural events. These activities promote fun and exciting forms of physical activity while also fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for Kinesiology students. These monthly events are filled with amazing opportunities where students are able to connect with each other through fitness. The intramural events focus on team oriented sports, therefore, actitives such as volleyball, spike ball, basketball, and dodgeball are just some of the events that we hold. The KINtramural Coordinators also take on the KUS Fitness Subsidy. This is meant to encourage active living as it awards Kinesiology students with partial compensation when they purchase fitness equipment or gym memberships.
