Get Prepared For Midterm Season!
Midterm season is around the corner which means stress levels are rising and we are putting more effort into studying. To assist you in preparing for your midterms, I have provided a list of tips below that I find useful to get myself prepared.
1. Midterm Notes
When creating notes for any of my midterms, I try to complete all class notes 1 week prior to my exams. I find this helpful because it provides me with enough time to review, understand, and memorize concepts. It also gives me plenty of time to ask my peers or professors questions to clarify certain topics or concepts. Using this strategy has helped control my stress and allows me to study a bit each day without burning out.
2. Textbook/Journal Articles
Over the course of the semester, I try to keep up with my weekly readings but when midterm season approaches my workload gets quite intense. To keep up with my readings, I try to split the readings with one of my friends that has a similar note taking style as me. This way I have cut down on the amount of work to be done and have more time to focus on understanding the textbook or journal article material.
3. Scheduling
One of the most important things during midterm season is to organize your schedule. Since you’ll likely have multiple midterms, assignments and non-academic commitments, create a schedule to ensure you can complete everything on time and to the best of your abilities. Create a calendar noting down all of your deadlines and commitments. What’s even better is if you can tell yourself what you’re going to study or complete each day. For example, Monday: study for Midterm 1 (units 1-3), Tuesday: soccer practice + complete English assignment, Wednesday: study for midterm 1 (units 4-6)
I hope you find these tips helpful while you are preparing for your midterms. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your TA’s or professors!
