BC Wheelchair Sports
Since 1971, the BC Wheelchair Sports Association (BCWSA) has empowered individuals with physical disabilities across the province to lead active, healthy lives through wheelchair sports. We are dedicated to advocating for athletes with disabilities and working to remove barriers to participation.
BCWSA oversees wheelchair rugby, wheelchair athletics (track and field), and wheelchair tennis. As athletes progress, we provide wheelchair loans and programs tailored to beginners, juniors, recreational participants, and high-performance athletes. We also support the many coaches, support staff, and volunteers who are essential to our sports community. BCWSA proudly hosts wheelchair sport competitions at all levels, from recreational events to high-performance tournaments, including the Canada Cup Wheelchair Rugby Tournament and the Vancouver International Wheelchair Tennis Tournament.
From Have-A-Go Days to international competitions, we strive to create opportunities for connection, community, and competition for athletes with disabilities in British Columbia.
Vision: Equitable, inclusive, and lifelong wheelchair sport opportunities in British Columbia—from first push to podium.
Mission: BCWSA advocates for and delivers high-quality wheelchair sport programs, services, and events that foster community, support holistic development, and provide opportunities for athletes to strive for excellence.

Upcoming Event: Vancouver Invitational Wheelchair Rugby Tournament
From March 27 to March 30, we are thrilled to host the Vancouver Invitational Wheelchair Rugby Tournament—one of the most exciting wheelchair rugby events on the West Coast and a longstanding pillar of the sport in the Pacific Northwest.
For fans, this is a rare opportunity to witness some of the world’s top quad athletes compete in the fast-paced sport known as Murderball. For players, it’s a chance to train and compete at the highest level, and for veterans, it serves as a crucial training ground for the World Championships and the Olympics.
The tournament will take place at the beautiful Richmond Olympic Oval, featuring eight clubs battling it out over three days of intense action. Admission is by donation. You’ve never seen rugby played like this!
Get Involved: Volunteer with BCWSA
We are looking for amazing volunteers to support this incredible event. Additionally, we offer weekly volunteer opportunities throughout the year, though space is limited, and a commitment is required.
If you’re passionate about making a difference and being part of an inclusive sports community, we’d love to have you on board!
